Mike Daniel is a native South Carolinian, having been born and reared in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from Dreher High School in Columbia, in 1971. He graduated from Clemson University in 1975, earning a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. He graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in December, 1978 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar on May 14, 1979. He was a member of the University of South Carolina Law Center Honor Council in 1975.

Mike entered into practice with his father, J. Reese Daniel, in Columbia, in 1979. The firm's general practice emphasized insurance defense, representing many automobile and worker's compensation liability insurance companies. The firm was A-rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Mike has tried over three hundred jury trials in state and federal courts over the past 26 years. In September, 1996, his father retired and Mike joined the firm, where he became a partner in 2002.

Mike's practice emphasizes personal injury claims, business and construction claims, contract disputes, and general litigation including administrative agency hearings. He also is a licensed title insurance agent.

Mike is a member of the South Carolina Bar, where he is active in its Torts and Negligence Subcommittee, the Charleston County Bar, the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is a past Chairman for the Fifth Judicial Circuit Fee Disputes Board, and a past member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Lawyers Association.

Mike has served as co-counsel to The South Carolina Automobile and Truck Dealers Association and for many years served as area counsel to many insurance companies such as Unisun Insurance Company, American Centennial Insurance Company, Concord Insurance Company, Maryland Casualty Insurance Company and The Stewart Hope Insurance Company.

Mike is a past president of the Exchange Club of Isle of Palms and a volunteer for the SPCA. Also, he is a member of Clemson University's IPTAY Club, and a member of the Seacoast Christian Community Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Mike has one adult son. He is married and lives in Mt. Pleasant.
