In South Carolina, the law requires that a licensed attorney conduct the closing of a purchase or refinance of residential real estate and the law also provides that the buyer or the borrower has the absolute right to select the closing attorney.  Too often clients have the misconception that they have to use an attorney from a preferred attorney list.  Make your own decision to hire someone whom you trust to protect your interests and handle the closing in a skilled, competent and experienced manner.
