Nick Sottile

    Nick was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a life-long resident of Charleston County. He was reared on the Isle of Palms and graduated from General William Moultrie High School in Mt. Pleasant in 1971.

    He attended Clemson University and earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the College of Charleston in August, 1976. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in May, 1980.

    Nick started his own law firm in Charleston after passing the South Carolina Bar in 1980. He moved his offices to Mt. Pleasant in 1981. His general practice grew and he brought in a partner in 1987.

    Nick's practice includes business transactions, real estate, municipal law, and probate, wills, trusts, and estates. Also, he is a licensed title insurance agent.

    Nick served as attorney for the City of Isle of Palms for 14 years, from 1996 through 2009, gaining invaluable experience in the field of municipal law.

    Nick represents many large and small businesses in the greater Charleston area.

    Nick is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Charleston County Bar, the South Carolina Bar Pro Bono program, the South Carolina Municipal Attorneys Association and the Palmetto Land Title Association.

    Nick served two, four year terms on the College of Charleston Foundation Board of Directors, from 1996 to 2004. He is a past president of the Exchange Club of Mt. Pleasant, where he was voted Exchangite of the Year in 1988 and 2004. He was instrumental in the formation of the Exchange Club's annual Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child and served as its first solo Race Director in 1995. In 2005, he served as race director of the Isle of Palms Run & Walk for the Child, Inc., the non-profit corporation which now sponsors the race. Under his leadership the 2005 event won the National Exchange Club's Fund-raising Award for the year

    Nick is a former volunteer for the United Way and a past Director of the Charleston County Neighborhood Legal Assistance Program. He served for many years as a volunteer coach in the Town of Mt. Pleasant Recreation Department's youth basketball program. He is also a Clemson University IPTAY Representative.

    In 2004, Nick helped organize and is a past Treasurer and Director of Carolina Coast Surf Club, Inc., a non-profit organization which advocates surfing as a family oriented, healthy activity and also promotes the preservation of the beaches and ocean.

    Nick has two sons, ages 16 and 13. The family resides in Mt. Pleasant.
